Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency ACCOUNTING & BILLING ANALYST Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, a joint-action electric utility located in Rochester Minnesota, seeks an individual to perform the Agency's general accounting functions and monitor general ledger activity in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the uniform system of accounts prescribed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. v Starting salary ($70,000 - $85,000 per year) depending on education and experience. Desired Education and Experience: VA minimum of a two-year degree in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Working knowledge of accounting software and demonstrated skills in Excel is required. VA minimum of three years of experience in an accounting-related position is preferred. V Utility experience is a plus. Primary Responsibilities: V Maintain, monitor, analyze, and edit customer master files and metering data files with the Agency's member billing meter data collection system to ensure data integrity at all metering sites for preparation of monthly invoices for all Agency rate schedules and tariffs. V Accumulate, summarize, record, and report accounting transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the uniform system of accounts prescribed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. V Account for and maintain documentation for the Agency's cash and investment transactions. V Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations. v Create miscellaneous billings, manage accounts receivable transactions, and maintain purchase orders.
