You will be invited to "roll up your sleeves and join numerous existing efforts this spring summer and fall We will also revisit CAREFEST (there likely will be a new name) that served Rochester as an annual home missions trip from 2006 to 2016. The Carcfest community service project had as many as 2,000 volunteers serving in one day I am not sure about you, but I rarely have days that I don't need encouragement in one form or another. The key words may be "in one form or another. Lets see if we are on the same page. There are days when the "atta boy.attagirl" compliment fits the bill Some days I juse need you to be there. Don't worry about words there may not be right words Just "come along side me On days when I messed up, you encourage me by giving a second chance There are days I am in a bad mood and don't feel like speaking In fact I may growl at you. That day a smile may be what I need Just acknowledge me that I am there. When I speak, you choose to reflect on what I said, telling me that you understand. It encour ages me that someone actually gets where I am coming from, even if you disagree with me. I don't get many handwritten notes, so there are days when I get one makes my day! I will keep it for a "rainyday I am thankful for the moment when people encourage me to try again' even after my 47th failure. "If more people made a conscious effort to listen to perspectives, even ones that they assume will differ from their own, with out the assumption that their own opin- fons won't differ afterwards, I think people in this com munity would feel far more valued, far more often, and that Mayor Brede called it the MILLION DOLLAR Day that did clean-up, repair work, helped school districts, did landscaping and painting for individuals, built parks, etc. DREAM with us What would it look like if 5,000 to 10,000 people pitched in, using muscles creativity and HEART to make our community better PLUS meet people's needs I used to get birthday cards. It is nice the Regardless of the timing we ALL benefit from a people remember when it is my birthday, get me a solid dose of encouragement (received or given) Valuing others highlights the Gift of card and write me a note. I feel encouraged when I get chosen to be part of a team. People wane ME to be part of their team their thing. They actually need me and personally asked me to join I'm honored! I am encouraged when others see specific things I DO well Sometimes when they tell me. my response is "AW SHUCKS", In my best moments I say, "Thanks and then ponder the moment. Other times I feel embarrassed and don't know what to say. AND sometimes I think, "It is about time someone recognizes my talent. you understand right? There are days when a genuine HUG, a warm handshake, a knuckle bump sure feels good. Apenaine response is contagious, so I tend to respond back in a warm manner.
